A Brief Timeline of Frisco's History

  • 1902

    Settlers begin to build Frisco on Collin County's rolling prairie land.
  • 1904

    Residents choose "Frisco City" in honor of the railroad. It is soon shortened to simply "Frisco."
  • 1910

    Frisco's first census shows a population of 332 residents.
  • 2003

    Frisco receives the designation "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
  • 2003

    Dr. Pepper Ballpark, a new 10,600-seat baseball stadium, hosts its first baseball game.
  • 2005

    Frisco opens its 20,500-seat stadium named "Pizza Hut Park."
  • 2016

    The Dallas Cowboys move their corporate headquarters to Frisco. "The Star" includes the team's new headquarters and training facilities.
  • 2018

    Major League Lacrosse will be moving its Rochester franchise to The Ford Center at The Star in Frisco. The team will be renamed the Dallas Rattlers.
